January Open Enrollment

You may be able to save money and improve coverage by switching to the Student Health Benefit Plan (SHBP).

Be sure to review SHBP eligibility criteria, benefit details, and pharmacy coverage to ensure that the SHBP will meet your needs.

Coverage dates for the spring semester are January 16, 2024 through August 18, 2024.

Need coverage beginning January 1? Please indicate that you would like January 1 coverage on this enrollment form. You will be billed an additional prorate for early enrollment.

How to enroll

Submit an enrollment form to the Office of Student Health Benefits by December 31 for a January 1 start date, or by February 8 to begin coverage on January 16.

Eligibility

You and your dependents can join the SHBP on January 1 if:

  • You are eligible for the SHBP for the fall semester, and
  • Your enrollment materials are submitted by December 31

You and your dependents can join the SHBP on January 16 if:

  • You are eligible for the SHBP for the spring semester, and

Dental Benefits

The SHBP includes preventive dental benefits (for services such as routine cleanings and exams) for the primary member (the student) and pediatric dependents (under age 19) through Delta Dental. The preventive dental benefit begins on the same date as your SHBP coverage.

If you would like restorative dental benefits (for services such as fillings and tooth removal), you can enroll in the optional Dental Buy-Up Plan for an additional fee. The start date for restorative dental benefits is February 1 and continues through August 31, 2024. To enroll, fill out the online enrollment form or submit an enrollment form to the Office of Student Health benefits by February 8. Students who were eligible in the fall semester and are joining the Dental Buy-Up Plan for the spring semester will be billed $984.48. Students who are newly eligible for the spring semester will be billed $492.24. Learn more.
