Graduate Assistant Health Plan (GAHP) Overview
The Office of Student Health Benefits (OSHB) administers health, dental, and pharmacy benefits, and enrollment for all eligible University of Minnesota (UMN) students, graduate assistants, residents, fellows, and interns.
The University of Minnesota’s Graduate Assistant Health Plan (GAHP) is a cost-effective, comprehensive health plan designed to meet the unique needs of UMN students.
With access to thousands of providers and hospitals in BlueCross BlueShield of Minnesota's worldwide network, the GAHP provides students with year-round coverage in-network with a variety of medical facilities on and near the UMN campus. The GAHP puts your needs first and travels with you when you need to access healthcare outside of Minnesota.
Key plan features:
- No in-network deductible
- 100% coverage of eligible expenses after a $10 office visit co-pay
- $2,500 annual out-of-pocket maximum for covered services
- Pharmacy benefits in the Blue Cross network with a $300 out-of-pocket maximum
Medical Benefits
2025-2026 Coverage Dates
- The 2025-2026 plan year goes from September 1, 2025 to August 31, 2026
- Fall semester coverage begins September 1, 2025
- Spring semester coverage begins February 1, 2026
Dependent Coverage
