Enrollment: Residents, Fellows, and Interns

2026-2027 RFI Enrollment

All residents, fellows, and interns are required to enroll in one of the two medical plans for at least single coverage, or submit a health insurance waiver request form with documentation of other comparable health insurance to the Office of Student Health Benefits within 30 days of their start date. Approved waivers are valid for two years.

When you enroll, you will have a choice of one of two plans: Basic or Basic Plus.

Note: Coverage for residents and fellows continuing residencies or fellowships will remain at the same level of benefits elected for the 2025-2026 plan year unless an enrollment/change form is submitted by June 15, 2026.

Open Enrollment

Open enrollment for medical and dental plans is from May 1 to June 15, or within 30 days of your start date, whichever is later. During this time, you are able to make changes to your plans for the next plan year.

Open enrollment for flexible spending accounts is November 1 to November 30 and you must re-enroll each year.

To make changes in your benefit coverage after you are first eligible or outside of the annual open enrollment period, you must have a change in family or work status.
